Mass Effect 1 & 2. Star Wars: The Old Republic. Dragon Age: Origins. Halo 4. Scribblenauts Unlimited. Chances are you have played at least one of these games at least once, and last week’s guest Nathan Moller had a helping hand in all of them. Most notably, Moller was the Cinematic Director of the first two Mass Effect titles, yet he has walked away from AAA development and has opted to focus his attention on the indie side of gaming.
Thus, Epoch: Return was born, and while it is still in the very early stages of development, it is shaping up to be something special. The first game in a series, Epoch: Return tells the tale of a husband/wife astronaut team that crash land on an asteroid, and are tasked with finding a way to escape the asteroid and return home. Full of wonder and an emphasis on exploring this unknown, likely dangerous asteroid, Epoch: Return sounds like it’s going to be something special.
Learn about the game below, listen to Moller’s philosophies on game development, and enjoy a nice, longer-than-usual discussion on what makes games great.
