Once again, I’m proud to present to you guys another awesome interview with another fascinating indie developer. Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing a fellow Midwesterner by the name of Tyler Owen, and if you recognize the name, it’s for good reason: he just finished a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year for this game Lacuna Passage – a FPS exploration game tasking you with exploring Mars alone (plus, the game uses NASA’s real-world Mars data – extremely cool). The game received a lot of press earlier in the year, and while it’s still a long ways off, it sounds as if it’s coming along nicely.
Within the interview, you will learn about Owen’s defining moment in which he decided that becoming an indie dev was possible. You will also learn about his past games such as Time Frame, Proto Botic, Iceberg Frenzy, as well as his studio Random Seed Games. Finally, you’ll also learn about Owen himself, trying to find a job after graduating college in 2010 despite being smack dab in the middle of a recession, and you’ll even get some helpful advice for dealing with the snow in the Midwest during the Winter months by yours truly. It’s an awesome interview into the mind of a 20-something indie dev that already has a few games under his belt, and it’s one you won’t want to miss!
Listen to the interview with Tyler Owen below, and as always, listen to Game Academy Radio every Friday at 4pm EST/1PM PST!
