Game Academy Radio – Interview with Black Shell Games
You would never have thought that a game shaping up to be one of the most exciting RPGs of 2014 would be a text adventure, but that’s exactly the case with Black Shell Games‘ Sanctuary RPG. A roguelike text adventure that feels like it was taken directly out of the 1980’s, it features a tight RPG system, laugh-out-loud humor, and one of the most beautiful soundtracks I have personally heard in a few years. These guys are gaining a following on Reddit and Twitch.tv and the response to SanctuaryRPG has been incredible for them.
Selling their game via a ‘pay-what-you-want’ model in addition to accepting virtual currency such as Bitcoin and Dogecoin, this small studio is one of the most forward-thinking teams we’ve had on the show, and let me tell you: the bulk of their team was present during the entire interview (you will hear from 6-7 people during the course of the interview). A team of talented individuals to be sure, this is one of the most entertaining interviews ever conducted on Game Academy Radio in my mind, and I think you will agree.
