Free Tool Friday: Writer

Posted By

Hello everyone – and happy Friday! Welcome to another edition of Free Tool Friday. Every week, we take a look at a completely free tool aimed at helping you to be more productive and keep your indie studio running smoothly and properly. Especially if you have had a hard time focusing and writing documentations for your upcoming game (or you simply want to brainstorm but cannot focus on writing), this week’s tool will certainly deliver. I’m talking about is Writer – a tool I personally use almost weekly, and I know you will come away a fan as well.

As soon as you open Writer for the first time, you may find yourself taken aback. Writer may look like a word processor from over 30 years ago, but what it lacks in features in more than makes up for in how well it will help you to focus. Because Writer is nothing more than a basic text processor with a black background, it is so much easier to get a lot of work done by placing Writer in full-screen and typing away. You can also save, print, and export your documents as well, so you never have to rely on copying and pasting your text into another word processor in order to save it properly.

If you want to give Writer a go and use Google Chrome, I highly suggest using the Writer app instead. If I ever feel distracted when writing, all I have to do is load up the app and I am ready to write for hours on end. It is distraction-free writing at its best, so give Writer a try today!

That’s it for this week’s edition of Free Tool Friday! Do you have a free tool that you want to see mentioned in a future installment? Let us know in the comments below!
