Free Tool Friday: Periscope

Hello everyone – and welcome to another edition of Free Tool Friday! Every week, we highlight a new, free tool designed to make your work life as an indie developer easier than ever – and this week’s tool will not only do that, but will help you to market your indie game better than ever! Especially since visual marketing is huge in 2015, this is an app that you need to start using now.

I’m talking about Periscope – a free tool from Twitter for iOS (Android version coming soon) that allows you to easily livestream in real-time!

Most people are going to want to livestream to Twitter – and Periscope makes it simple. Simply tap the bird icon before you begin broadcasting, and whenever your livestream goes live, your Twitter account will automatically send a link to Twitter so anyone can watch it.

Prefer a more private livestream? Periscope makes it simple. Simply press the lock icon before your broadcast is live, and you can easily choose who you want to invite to the broadcast.

As for the broadcast itself, Periscope suggests people that you should follow (a great option if you are trying to expand your network). As the broadcast is playing, viewers can give you ‘hearts:’ The more hearts you get, the higher you are placed in Periscope’s ‘Most Loved’ list; which will expand your reach even further!

Currently, broadcasts can be watched approximately 24 hours after your livestream has stopped. Don’t want to keep your replay around? Delete it immediately if you wish!

Overall, Periscope is a fantastic tool for livestreaming anything! Give is a shot today, and let us know what you think!
