Welcome to another spectacular edition of Free Tool Friday! Every week, we bring you a free tool that can help you to develop indie games easier than ever. This week, we’re looking at a free tool that I’ve been using for years: GIMP.
GIMP is an open-source image editing tool in the same vein as Photoshop. While it’s not as smooth as Photoshop, it’s also completely free. Moreover, because it is open-source, there are tons of extensions out there that you can install that will allow you to do nearly anything you need to do with your image. To that end, you can customize GIMP in such a way that it is identical to Photoshop, and the best part? It can arguably do a few things Photoshop can’t do: you just have to do a little digging to figure out how to harness its power!
Whether you need to merely resize an image or you want to do some heavy-duty editing, GIMP has you covered. Lots of people love this little image editing tool that could, and who knows? Maybe you will too!
Do you have a free tool you want to see mentioned in a future installment of Free Tool Friday? Let us know in the comments below!
