Publishing house and game developer Animoca has just reached over 220 million mobile app downloads. This year is definitely appearing to be a prosperous one for the company. Launched in 2011 as a cross-platform app publisher for smartphones and social media networks, Animoca is gaining in users and improving their reputation as a noteworthy mobile developer in the industry. Their successful hit game Pretty Pet Salon and the Pretty Pet series of games that followed has made a name for the establishment.
However it was the publisher’s innovative plan to switch their core audience focus from male to female gamers that has contributed to most of the company’s newfound success. Animoca, the subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Outblaze has launched over 300 games since its debut but it wasn’t until the publisher redirected its app development strategy towards female gamers, an often overlooked demographic in the mobile game industry that it began accumulating hit app games.
Their latest title geared towards young female players, Star Girl: Valentine Hearts has dropped just in time for Valentine’s Day and is a perfect example of how the publisher is fine-tuning the type of games they release. Star Girl: Valentine Hearts is a free-to-play dating simulator and is also the most recent edition to the Star Girls game series.
Other popular girl inspired apps on the company’s rooster are Beauty Idol, Superstar Fashion Girl, Cinderella Café, Dress to Impress, and Top Models.
Animoca’s co-founder and CEO David Kim boasted that there will be more games launched before this winter quarter comes to an end when he commented on the success of reaching over 220 million app downloads.
“I’m proud of our team’s commitment to producing high quality games and creating original, innovative mobile experiences. The new Animoca games launched so far this year are just a sign of things to come as we prepare to announce several more exciting new launches in the coming weeks,” said Kim.
