10th IMGA Awards Nomination: Clumsy Ninja and Device 6 are Top Nominees

The 10th IMGA Awards nomination has been announced and the groundbreaking game Device 6 is receiving some serious competition. Out of the 10 different categories being judged, Device 6, Limbo, and Republique tied with 3 nominations each but it was Natural Motion’s Clumsy Ninja that appeared as a surprising contender on the list with 2 nods for Best Technical Achievement and Excellence in Innovation.

This year will be the 10th anniversary of the IMGA Awards. The competition was established in 2004 with the support of companies like Intel, NVIDIA, Autodesk, Ideaworks 3D and others to honor mobile game achievements and recognize the best mobile app game developers of today. Throughout the years they’ve reviewed over 1,500 mobile games from more than 52 different countries stretching across the globe. There are no restrictions on experience in the competition, only a noteworthy mobile app is required. Nominees range from local indie developers to devs from some of the leading mobile game publishers in the world.

The judging process is also extremely thorough. The diverse panel of judges includes professional game studio founders, academics, marketers, journalists, and game designers. Everyone on the judging panel is broken up into groups and given 50 to 100 games to play and weed through. Once the selection has been reduced to the finalists, judges must take versions of each game and play them daily for a minimum of a month before they can cast their final vote for each award category.

The winner of this year’s IMGA Awards will receive one million in media exposure.
